Thomas Frank has said that captain Pontus Jansson is "touch and go" to face Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
The defender missed the 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday with a foot injury, but the Head Coach revealed that there is a chance he will feature against the Eagles.
“His foot is better," said Thomas. "It will be touch and go as to whether he's available for Palace, but we’d like to take our chance on it if he’s ready to play."
When asked about other absentees - Sergi Canos, Kristoffer Ajer and Ethan Pinnock - Thomas added: “Sergi, no. He’s still a tiny bit away, to be sure. He’s training in small bits to make sure there's no re-injury risk.
“With Ajer, it's about fitness. He played his first minutes for the B Team, he did well and could be involved tomorrow. But it could be that we actually want him to play a game or two more before he’s where he should be.
“With Pinnock, I shouted at him earlier to work harder! No, I know he's working very hard.
“He's at a place where he's training by himself, he’s on the pitch, and he’s been doing that for a couple of weeks.”
With two games in four days, Thomas is yet to decide whether he wants to rotate his side on Tuesday, or stick with the team that has played so well over the last few weeks.
The Dane also believes that it is still too early for summer signing Mikkel Damsgaard to make his first Premier League start of the season.
“We’ve got to get the balance between rotating, freshness and energy. How many players can you do it with? One, two, three, four, five? Four or five is probably too much,” Thomas continued.
“I’m thinking about whether I should freshen it up a tiny bit, but you still want to go with the team that has done well. So that is the decision that I have to make before tomorrow.
“With Damsgaard, it’s too early for him to start in terms of the fitness level for the Premier League and our standards.
“He's taking a step forward, his training yesterday was really good, so that’s a step in the right direction.”
The transfer window closes on Thursday and, while insisting that there is no desperation for new signings, Thomas affirmed that the Club are always in the market for players who can improve the squad.
“I’m happy with our squad," he added. "I think we have cover in every position. But maybe Phil [Giles] might have a small present for me, we don't know!
"We said before and it’s the same message: we are in the market, we are looking if there is someone, but we are not desperate at all.
"There are a lot of good options that we need to pick and choose from. The price and the competition from other clubs make it difficult, of course.
“The good thing now is that, over time, we have built a decent reputation for younger players to come here and develop.
“When they walk in the door, they have one level and, if they walk out the door, they are at a higher level, so that that means a lot. I think that reputation and that proof of top-class development is very important.”
There’s also a chance that some players may before the window closes.
"The big balance again is that you have to have a strong squad, but not have too many," said Thomas. "It's difficult for some players to see minutes coming their way, so that's the balance we need to find. It could be that Halil [Dervisoglu] goes out, but he could stay."
