In a new video from the Premier League marking International Women’s Day, Brentford’s non-executive director Monique Choudhuri and head of football operations Lorna Falconer share insights into how their careers have developed and gender inequality in football.

Choudhuri and Falconer explain how they first started working in football; provide their take on the increase in women working in the sport; and offer advice to women looking to break into the industry. They also discuss the value of allyship in the workplace.

“International Women’s Day has always been about celebration," said Falconer, "being able to highlight what our leadership team are doing [such as] the board actively encouraging women to apply for roles.

“People underestimate how many women are involved in pulling the game together. Without us, I’m not quite sure it would be what it is today."

“Football is now a place that women can go to," Choudhuri added. "There are a lot more opportunities for women, but we still have more work to do at leadership-level to get more women at the top table.

"To get better female representation, the thing you need is allies. When you're an ally, you're very intentional about how you give people opportunities."
