Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo said it is ‘hard to find the words’ to describe his experience playing for Cameroon at the World Cup - but he is now ready for the restart of the Premier League on Boxing Day.

The forward started all three of Cameroon’s games in Qatar, including their 1-0 win over South American giants Brazil in their final group game.

And Mbeumo said playing at a World Cup is something every footballer dreams of.

“It was an amazing experience, something I always dreamed of. It's hard to find the words for how I felt. It's just something every footballer wants to do," he stated.

“But I'm very happy to come back and I can't wait to do everything we can to perform in the league.”

In his first game back for the Bees - our 2-2 friendly draw with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg on Saturday - Mbeumo scored a stunning free-kick to open the scoring for Thomas Frank’s side.

And the 23-year-old insisted he is ready for the return of the Premier League, when we take on Tottenham on Boxing Day.

Mbeumo said: “I've been practising a lot in training to have this moment in the game so, yeah, I’m happy.”

“The game out there was very good. I was happy to be with the boys again and I think it was a good performance", he added.

"It was a draw but I think we could maybe have won the game, but it's good for next week.

“It was good for me to have some minutes after the break. I just want to try to stay fit and be ready for Boxing Day.”
