Thomas Frank was ‘happy’ with Brentford’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur but felt that his side ‘should have won’ on their return to Premier League action.
The Bees drew 2-2 with Tottenham in their first league game since the victory over Manchester City on 12 November.
Vitaly Janelt and Ivan Toney fired the home side into a two-goal lead with 55 minutes on the clock, but Spurs responded through Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
“We wanted three points and, over the 90 minutes, I think we should have won,” said Frank.
“Until the 65th minute when Kane scored, there was one team, us, controlling, creating chances and being a threat.
“After that goal, the momentum changed a bit. We still had a big chance that Bryan Mbeumo put over the bar, then they equalised for 2-2 and after that they put a lot of pressure on us.
“I don’t think they were a massive threat, but they were probably closer at that stage to winning it. Overall, I’m very happy with the performance. We’re building a fortress here at the Gtech.
“I badly wanted the big emotions for the fans, but unfortunately we couldn’t give it to them today.”
