‘The Big Score’, a series taken at our game in September against Reading, will be competing in the Professional, Sport category. Now in its 12th year, the Sony World Photography Awards is one of the most celebrated and diverse photography competitions in the world.

Describing his collection, Thomas, who has won three Danish Photo of the Year contests, said: “Football lives in the British soul. Every week they cheer and support their teams, but not just in the Premier League. Millions of British football fans also shout for their teams in the lower divisions.

“In West London club Brentford FC - playing in the second best "Championship" league - they are used to not always winning, but the club’s form curve is improving this year and some even believe in the miracle of making it to the Premier League.”

The picture above shows supporter Craig Nickels roaring the team on as ten minutes added time was shown with The Bees 2-1 down against The Royals. A goal two minutes into that added time from Yoann Barbet would go on to rescue a point.

All shortlisted series will be exhibited as part of the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London, from 18 April until 6 May 2019.

The winners will be announced on 17 April 2019.
