Zain Westbrooke knows the squad will have to be on form if they are to get anything from Manchester United when they visit Griffin Park on Saturday afternoon. The 20-year-old midfielder spoke to Bees Player earlier this week about the upcoming challenge ahead of Flemming Pedersen's side.
"They'll be a really good technical side," said Zain. "Also, with Mourinho as their new First Team manager, I think they'll be very organised, good in defense and very compact. They'll be able to spring quick counter attacks, they have very athletic players and we have to be on our best game. We have to expect that at times it will be very hard to break them down and it will be very hard to get the ball back at times. They will be very good in posession and out of posession."
The last B fixture saw The Bees go down to a flattering 4-1 scoreline away at St George's Park. Zain took some time to reflect on the result from his perspective.
"I think the result against the Nike Academy, our recent game, wasn't great," said Zain. "I think our performance was good, especially in the first half. We went out to really press them high, won the ball back and played some nice football. We lost it a bit in the second half and they capitalised on their chances, then ended up winning the game. From the outside you could say it looked like they were dominant but I don't think that was the case at all."
This will be the second match at Griffin Park for Brentford B this season, something Zain feels is important for the squad's development.
"I think it's really good to play at a stadium," said Zain. "It's where the Fist Team plays and it's where we want to get to. We want to re-enact that as much as we can, that's why it's great when fans can get down and create a real atmosphere at the ground. It puts a bit of pressure on us as well, playing a club like Man United also adds a bit of pressure. The quality that they have should make it really intense game.
"It's still good to play the lower teams to get that different physicality out of the game and read a different flow during games. I think it's great to play against teams like Man United, Man City and Villarreal, where their technical level is very high and their knowledge of the game is so good. Like I said with Man United, they'll be so good off the ball that it will be very hard to break them down and get the goals to win the game."
