Brentford have recalled Development Squad striker Luke Norris from his loan spell at Boreham Wood.

The forward joined the Hertfordshire club last month and extended his stay last week but Brentford have exercised an option to bring him back.

The Development Squad resume their Under-21 Professional Development League Two South campaign tomorrow, Saturday January 12, when they travel to play Swansea City and Luke will be available for that game.

Luke played seven games for Boreham Wood in the Blue Square Bet South and scored three goals, including two in a 2-1 win over Maidenhead United on Wednesday.

Luke is one of six players eligible for the Under-21 side to have been on loan over Christmas and all have now returned.

Alfie Mawson played six games for Maidenhead United during a loan spell at the Berkshire club, also of the Blue Square Bet South.

His loan deal expired on Wednesday, January 9, when he played against Boreham Wood, and he has returned to Griffin Park.

Sam Griffiths has been on loan at Ryman Premier League Carshalton Athletic.

He made his fifth appearance for the Surrey side on Tuesday night against Enfield Town before his loan deal expired yesterday, Thursday January 10.

Brentford scholar Josh Clarke has also been with Carshalton.

Josh is in the second year of a two-year scholarship but qualifies for the Club’s Under-21 side due to his age and was at Carshalton on a work experience deal.

He scored on his debut for Carshalton and played seven games in total for the Ryman Premier League outfit.

Tyrell Miller-Rodney and Sam Beale have been with Northwood, of the Evo-Stick Southern League Central Division, on the same work experience basis as Josh.

Both made four appearances for Northwood during their work experience spell.

Jon De Souza, Brentford’s Development Squad Manager, told Bees Player this week he had seen all the youngsters at some point during their loan spells and had received good reports.

“From what I was seeing I was very pleased, and the reports I was getting from our scouts and the managers was that they were very pleased as well,” he said.

“They came back with a bit of a buzz.

“Without being disrespectful to non-league football, they came back with a little bit more desire to be a professional footballer as the standard of pitches and of players would be a lot better here than it would be at a semi-professional club.

“Sometimes it makes the players roll their sleeves up and say I want to play League One football rather than semi-professional football.”

Two of Brentford’s younger players have gone out on work experience deals.

Scholars Myles Hippolyte and Max Herbert have joined Southall, of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One, and Ashford Town (Middlesex), who play in the Evo-Stick Southern League Central Division like Northwood, respectively.
