Brentford Women’s First Team will look to follow up last weekend’s historic win at the Gtech Community Stadium as they face Actonians Reserves in the First Round of the County Cup on Sunday at Gunnersbury Park in a 2pm kick-off.

The Bees took their unbeaten run to six games following their 4-2 win over Watford Ladies Development as they broke the attendance record for a women’s tier six match, with 5,116 supporters watching on at the Gtech.

Head Coach, Karleigh Osborne is eager for his side to take advantage of the momentum they have coming off the back of last Sunday’s spectacular occasion.

He said: “It’s important for us to use the positive energy that we have gained after last weekend’s match and take it into Sunday.

“The girls are on such a high right now and it’s great to see but we need to ensure that we don’t take our eye off the ball and understand we still have lots of games remaining this season that we need to win.”

The First Team’s opponents on Sunday ply their trade in the division below the Bees but Osborne expects a professional performance from his players.

Speaking on Sunday’s opposition, Osborne explained: “Sometimes these can be the hardest games, the lower league teams always want to prove a point when they come up against sides like us in the cup, so we need to remain fully focused.

“I’m confident the girls will not drop their standards, they know we need to just take every game as it comes, we are on a good run at the moment, and we want to keep it going for as long as possible.”

The Bees enter their third cup competition of the season with winger Eleonora Cottrell, desperate for her side to win some silverware this campaign.

Our B Team are also in action on Sunday as they come up against Ruislip Rangers at Kings College Playing Fields in a 1.30pm kick-off.

After the B Team’s Greater London Football League Anniversary Trophy triumph last season, the side will be keen to replicate this achievement as they play in the First Round of the Capital Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Coming off the back of a 3-0 win against Enfield Town Thirds in the league, the away side will have all the confidence they need as they look to overcome a tough Ruislip Rangers side who play in the Thames Valley Counties Women's Football League.

Ahead of Sunday’s clash, B Team Head Coach, Tommy Ryan-Maynard said: “I’m looking for the same fight that I have seen from the girls all season, despite last weekend’s score line it was a tough game, the players battled hard like they always do to get the win.

“I’d like to see the players communicating with each other slightly better, the football that we play is great at times but talking to each other on the pitch is something I think we need to work on.”

B Team defender Samantha Jones feels it’s vital for her side to claim the win on Sunday and gain some momentum for the rest of the season.

Ryan-Maynard continued: “Winning the cup last season was special, we beat four teams in the league above and hopefully this is something we are able to achieve again.
