Brentford Women’s B team will be looking for redemption as they face East London Ladies at Wanstead Flats Playing fields in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday in a 1.30pm kick-off.

The Women’s B team are in fine form as they head into this weekend looking to make it six consecutive wins in a row with assistant head coach Charlotte Tanner excited to see her side back in action.

Speaking on Sunday’s fixture, Tanner said: “It’s good to be playing again in the league, we had a great cup run and are now through to the final so it’s just about continuing to replicate that same form into our league games.

“Our eyes still remain firmly on that league title and we need to keep putting the pressure on Leyton Orient but we’re just excited to be getting a good run of games under our belts.”

The Bees came away 3-1 winners in their previous game against Tooting Bec at Bedfont Sports Club which saw the side progress to the final of the Capital Cup (Junior Section).

Tanner believes the positive run in the cup could play a big part in her side’s chase for the title as we approach the final stretch of the season.

“It’s great to see the girls have more belief in themselves and making sure we are just focusing on ourselves when we play,” said Tanner.

“We showed a lot of mental resilience last Sunday against Tooting who are a really good side so I feel the players definitely have what it takes to show that again this weekend.”

Last time we met

East London Ladies handed the Women’s B team there only loss at home so far this season in the reverse fixture back in September as the Bees fell to a 2-1 defeat. An early East London goal forced the home side to press high up the pitch which caused them to get caught on the counter as a last-minute Kasey Clifford goal wasn’t enough to salvage any points for the B team.

Talking on the previous game, Tanner explained: “Of course, we want to win this one badly after the defeat earlier on in the season but we have come on as a team so much since then and made a lot of improvements.

“Our results following that game have shown just how far we have come and I couldn’t be prouder of this group. A win on Sunday will ensure we keep Leyton Orient on their toes and that’s all we can do from this point.”

Our first team are without a fixture this weekend but will be looking ahead to next Sunday’s clash against Richmond Park where they aim to break the attendance record at Bedfont Sports Club for the second year running.
