Brentford Women aim to break another attendance record as they face Richmond Park in the London South East Regional Division One North at Bedfont Sports Club on Sunday in a 3pm kick-off.
It’s set to be another big day for our women’s first team who remain in the running for the league title with head coach Karleigh Osborne excited for another match day in front of a large audience.
Speaking on Sunday’s game, Osborne said: “We are heading into this weekend with a spring in our step following our last result a couple of weeks ago so I expect us to be at it right from the off and to go out and get the win in convincing fashion.
“It will be great to play in front of what could be another record crowd down at Bedfont but we must make sure first and foremost we’re switched on and focused on getting the three points.”
The Bees ensured their place in the Capital Cup final last time out as they beat Denham United in a convincing 3-1 win as Nikki Saunders added to a Chloe Logie double which saw the women’s first team leave The Den with the victory.
Women's first team embrace vs Denham United
Osborne reflects on the result against Denham and backs his side to have a successful end to the season following their most recent triumph in the County Cup.
“We showed our resilience against Denham, it wasn’t long before tha which they got the better of us at their ground beating us 1-0 so to go back a few weeks later in a semi-final and to put in the performance that we did showed what we’re about.
“It’s nice to head into Sunday against Richmond with some momentum and continue to battle for the league title knowing we also have a cup final which awaits.”
Last time we met
Before winning their Capital Cup semi-final clash in their last outing the women’s first team took on Sunday’s opponents in the quarter-finals of the competition. An early goal from Richmond’s Alara Tyrer forced the Bees to come back from behind which they did through two Logie strikes and a wondergoal from Sophie Troth as Brentford went on to win 3-1 in comfortable fashion.

Talking on the previous result against Richmond, Osborne explained: “It was a good game against Richmond last time out, they showed their qualities and they played some nice football.
“I believe we are one of the best teams in the league when we get the ball down and try to play and I think this game showed that as we began to outplay them in the second half.
“We must not get complacent this weekend though, they are going to want to get one back over us at Bedfont so we need to use the support to our advantage and battle hard right from the first whistle.”
