The Bees had the better of the first-half, passing up chances through Jodie Read, Lisa Grant, and Dana Johnson before they did take the lead midway through the period: Johnson freeing Carmela Garcia down the wing with the Spaniard picking out Serena Guardino in the middle to fire home.

After being second-best for the first 45 minutes, Luton started brightly after the break and levelled ten minutes later, a looping free-kick from wide deceiving everyone to find the back of the net. The visitors, who were without a win going into this weekend’s game, then struck a post as they continued to dominate.

As the half went on, Craig Brown’s side came back into the game with Johnson going close twice before Madina Oudjit passed up a great chance to equalise at the death meaning both sides had to settle for a point.

The Bees remain fifth in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One ahead of this weekend’s trip to fourth places Godalming Town.

The Development Team enjoyed a hard-fought win over East London Ladies on Sunday, shading the contest at Lampton School by the odd goal in seven.

The Bees came from behind either side of the break: Geraldine Burgess and Nadia Peters on target before Shannon Read made it 3-2 on the hour. With 15 minutes to go, Anna Gelderblom crossed for Naomi Totten to head home and extend the advantage.

A controversial late free-kick allowed the visitors to pull one back but Justin Ali and Nathan Mobey’s team held on to close to gap on their visitors in third to just two points ahead of next weekend’s trip to bottom of the table Tower Hamlets.
