Brentford striker Will Grigg, currently on loan at Milton Keynes Dons, was an unused substitute as Northern Ireland were beaten in a UEFA European Championships qualifying fixture last night.
Northern Ireland lost 2-0 to Romania away from home in the qualifier last night.
They conceded two second half goals, both scored by Paul Papp, to lose in Bucharest.
It was Northern Ireland’s first defeat after a fine start to their Group F campaign that saw them win their first three games.
Northern Ireland started the campaign with a 2-1 win in Hungary in September before beating Faroe Islands at home.
They then won 2-0 in Greece last month to maintain a 100 per cent record but now sit second in the table, behind Romania, after last night’s loss.
Northern Ireland have nine points and are two ahead of Hungary with Finland three points further back.
The top two in the group will definitely qualify for a place in the finals in France in the summer of 2016.
Will, who joined The Bees last summer after leaving Walsall, has made five appearances for Northern Ireland, three of which have been since arriving at Griffin Park.
He has also played for Northern Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level.
Will played 36 games for Brentford last season, 34 in League One, and scored five league goals.
He has played 17 times for MK Dons and scored six goals.
