Children and adults from Feltham Bees Disabled Sports Club enjoyed a unique matchday experience at the Brentford v Barnsley game in December. There were 12 members of the Feltham team that took part in the exciting pre-match Guard of Honour and the half-time penalty shootout. Brentford FC also donated the club’s new kit to Feltham Bees, which was presented by goalkeeper Daniel Bentley.

Ray Coleman, secretary of Feltham Bees Disabled Sports Club, said: “The players all had a great day thanks to the support from Brentford FC Community Sports Trust. They were thrilled to step on to the hallowed Griffin Park turf; firstly, to form the Guard of Honour to welcome their heroes on to the pitch and secondly, to take penalties at half-time to the applause of a packed stadium.”

The sports club, based in Feltham, has been working with the Trust since inception in 2002. Feltham Bees’ adult team regularly take part in the Trust’s ‘Adult & Further Education Football League’ – specifically designed for students and young adults with communication and learning difficulties.

Ray added: “On the minibus on the way back everyone was exhausted but buzzing. Everyone kept saying ‘When can we do this again?’”
