The form of Ollie Watkins has been recognised with a place in the best English players in the Sky Bet Championship, according to Sky Sports. The broadcaster announced its latest Power Rankings last week, naming an English XI ahead of the latest international fixtures as well as the top 50 English players in the second. Ollie, who joined The Bees from Exeter City in the summer, earned a place in an attacking midfield role in that side and was fourth on the list. Nico Yennaris also made the top 50.
Sky Sports Power Rankings are calculated by the broadcaster based on points awarded for prowess in 32 different areas of matches. Each player is rated each week for things including blocks, tackles, goals and assists. Points are then weighted over the season.
According to the rankings, Ollie – who has ten goals and seven assists in 37 league appearances this season – is the fourth best English player in the league. Only James Maddison, of Norwich City, Derby County defender Curtis Davies and Luke Freeman of Queens Park Rangers have been better this term. The whole top 50, which includes Nico Yennaris at 45, can be seen here.
