Danish international striker Lasse Vibe has left Brentford and signed for Chinese Super League side Changchun Yatai for an undisclosed fee. The 30-year-old completed the move to the Far East earlier today, Thursday 8 February, after the two clubs reached an agreement for the transfer. The Chinese season starts later this month and the transfer window closes at the end of February, meaning Lasse can make the switch despite the Transfer Window in Europe closing last Wednesday, 31 January.

Lasse has spent two-and-a-half-years in West London having joined from Swedish side IFK Göteborg in the summer of 2015. He scored 14 goals in his first season with The Bees, notching seven times in his final seven games that term. Lasse added 16 in all competitions last term, again hitting form late in the campaign – scoring nine in the final 12 games of the season.

Lasse missed almost two months of the current season with a heel injury but did contribute seven goals in 19 Sky Bet Championship appearances. Five of those goals came in his last six games for the Club and he scored the winner in his final appearance – at Reading last month. Lasse leaves having played 97 Brentford games in all competitions and scored 37 goals. He scored 36 of those goals in 94 league appearances for The Bees.

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, said: "This transfer was something that both Lasse and the Club were keen to pursue during the last Transfer Window. The transfer fee received helps to strengthen the long term financial outlook of the Club and, ultimately, that was deemed more preferably than Lasse's contract running down and him leaving for nothing at the end of the season. I'd like to thank Lasse for everything he has done at Brentford and wish him well in his new adventure."

China is the latest stop of Lasse’s career. He started at Aarhus Gymnastikforening, better known as AGF Aarhus, and moved on to FC Fyn and then FC Vestsjælland, where he made his name scoring goals in the Danish second tier. Lasse moved in to the Danish top flight with SønderjyskE and scored 19 goals in a season and a half, 47 games, there before a move to Göteborg in 2013.

Lasse captained Denmark in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil and played four games in the tournament, including one against the hosts. He has also played for the full Danish international team. He has won 11 full international caps, the last of which was against Germany last summer, and scored one goal.
