The new indoor sports facility at Uxbridge High School that will be used by Brentford Football Club’s Academy and students at the school is now almost complete.

Brentford FC and Uxbridge High School have agreed a partnership to allow players from the Club’s Category Two Football Academy to attend the school, taking advantage of the outstanding education provision, and train on site.

As part of the upgrade of the Club’s Youth Development department, a new indoor facility has been built at Uxbridge High School.

The facility – which has been paid for by the Club with a contribution from the school – has a fully enclosed 60m by 50m pitch with Third Generation artificial turf.

The building also has learning zones, changing rooms, a gym and a physio room.

The finishing touches are being put to the facility and it should be fully operational within the next week.

Ose Aibangee, Brentford FC Academy Director, said: “It is amazing.

“It is a fantastic building.

“It has taken some time getting to this stage but it is a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art indoor facility.

“We have a superb gym and classrooms so we can provide our education here.

“It is heated so the temperature will be good for the boys to train.

“We have a third generation playing surface and it is important the pitch is good.

“I can’t wait to start.

“I can’t wait to get the players and staff in here.”

The Club’s partnership with Uxbridge High School came in to effect at the start of the new school year.

The Club has young players attending Uxbridge High School – which is rated as Outstanding by Ofsted, the Government’s schools inspectorate.

They will attend lessons with class mates and train with the Club’s highly qualified coaches during the day and in the evenings.

The facility will be available for the school to use for Physical Education lessons and Brentford Football Club Community Sports Trust will also run programmes on the site.

Ose added: “Our relationship with the school is excellent.

“It is going really well so far.

“We have kids at the school full time and a comprehensive day release programme for the other age groups.

“The future is definitely bright in terms of our partnership and it will be a massive benefit to the Academy.

“It will also be a useful recruitment tool for us.

“The facility is close to being usable; our players will start their full-time training programme in the next week or so.

“The building will get a lot of good use by a lot of people, our young players at Uxbridge High School, evening sessions and the players on day release from their schools.

“We have a partnership with the school and it is important they use it too.”

Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: "To see the new facility in place and up and running is wonderful.

“It is truly a first class facility and unique in that it has been developed in full partnership with Uxbridge High School, with considerable investment from Club Owner Matthew Benham and will be of tremendous benefit to both partners.

“We certainly believe that it will assist the Club to achieve its Academy ambitions which we hope will see at least two to three home grown young players, regularly knocking on the door of the First Team within the next couple of seasons.

“I would like to thank everyone at Uxbridge High School for their assistance over the past 18 months or so and also the efforts of our professional team and building contractors.

“The new building is a real statement of intent by the Club and I look forward to our young players and Uxbridge High School students enjoying the fantastic facilities".

Peter Lang, Principal of Uxbridge High School, said: “This is a very exciting and very innovative project.

“The new Academy facility is superb.

“Uxbridge High School is an ambitious school and we are very much looking forward to working with Brentford FC, a very ambitious football club.

“This has all the makings of an outstanding partnership.”
