Marcello Trotta praised his Brentford team mates after collecting a prize at the Player of the Year Ball.
The striker, who spent the season on loan at Griffin Park from Fulham, won The Bees Player Outstanding Moment of the Season award.
The Bees Player Show team, who produce the home match coverage for the Bees Player premium website service, nominated him for a crucial goal.
The striker scored the only goal, a low 20 yard effort, as Brentford beat Leyton Orient in a top-of-the-table derby in East London in front of the Sky TV cameras in March.
It put The Bees in to the top two in League One, a position they never relinquished.
Describing the goal, Marcello said: “I remember Adam Forshaw set me up.
“I shot and luckily the ball went in.
“That was good.”
He added to win promotion from League One was his way of paying Brentford back.
The striker was on loan at Griffin Park in 2012/13 and hit the crossbar with a stoppage time penalty on the final day of the season against Doncaster Rovers when a goal would have sent The Bees up.
Marcello said the Brentford squad had helped him get over that moment and seal a place in the second tier this time around.
“It has been brilliant,” he said.
“We came back strongly, my team mates have helped me recover from last season.
“We did brilliantly by going up.
“It was not a tough decision to come back.
“I had to give something back to the Club and the fans and I wanted to help the Club get promoted.”
