Brentford Women’s B Team extended their winning run to four consecutive games after putting seven goals past Forest Crusaders in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division One North on Sunday afternoon.

After the win Head Coach, Tommy Ryan-Maynard and Assistant Head Coach Charlotte Tanner reacted to their team’s performance.

Ryan-Maynard said: “I was really pleased with how the girls applied themselves from start to finish, we played with such confidence which was great to see.”

The Bees went into half-time 4-1 up with the goals coming through Josie Shand, a double from Abigail Clairingbold and a spectacular free kick from Kasey Clifford.

Ryan-Maynard continued: “I loved how we got off to such a quick start and was very pleased for Josie getting the first goal, especially with it being her first game back from injury.”

Clifford has been a standout performer all season for the Women’s B Team leading the goal-scoring charts for her side who have high hopes of promotion come the end of the campaign.

The number 20 showed her brilliance once again on Sunday, finishing the game with four goals as the captain helped her side end the match with a 7-2 victory.

Speaking on Clifford’s performance, Tanner said: “Kasey has been unbelievable for us, not just against Forest Crusaders but for the whole season, she sets a great example to the rest of the team with the way she plays and I’m really proud of her.”

“I couldn’t ask for more from her she has been working really hard, so she deserves everything that comes her way.”

The Bees currently sit one place below league leaders Leyton Orient but having now started to put together a run of wins, Ryan-Maynard is confident in his side's chances of finishing the season top of the table.

“At the moment we look really strong, we just need to continue this run of form and concentrate on winning every game we play which I believe we can do.

“Leyton Orient will be tough to catch but I have so much belief in this group so if other results go our way and we keep winning, of course it’s achievable.”

Tanner then went on to explain what she believes is the biggest factor in the Women’s B Team’s recent success.

“The togetherness within the team at the moment is at an all-time high, it’s prominent in our training sessions and I feel it’s a big advantage when we play our games.

“Everyone looks out for each other and understands their roles so clearly, so for me and Tommy it’s great to see the girls winning games and doing it with a smile on their faces.”
