Brentford left back Tom Field has made a loan move to Cheltenham Town. The 21-year-old linked up with the Sky Bet League Two side earlier today, Friday 31 August, and completed the switch to the Gloucestershire side before the closure of the window for loan transfers. He will stay with Cheltenham until 1 January 2019.

Tom has been with the Brentford since he was 15 and turned professional in 2015. He made his Championship debut in the 3-0 West London Derby win over Fulham in April 2016, only a few weeks after his 19th birthday, and then played 17 games for The Bees the following season, 15 of them in the league. He also scored his first professional goals – two against Eastleigh in an Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie and his first league goal against Preston North End a few weeks later.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Bradford City and played nine matches, eight of them in League One. He has made two appearances for Brentford this term, both in the Carabao Cup. The second of those was against Cheltenham as The Bees won 1-0 at Griffin Park on Tuesday night and Tom will now play for the League Two side, having played against them a few days ago.

Dean Smith, Brentford FC Head Coach, said: “Tom needs to go and get a run of games to help him progress his career. He has played well in the Carabao Cup games and now needs to push on by playing regular competitive football. We saw on Tuesday that Cheltenham will give him that opportunity and are a team that plays in a style to help his development.”
