Thomas Frank spoke to the media after watching his side beat Brighton 1-0 in pre-season on the south coast.

The Head Coach gave an update on injuries to Ethan Pinnock and Christian Nørgaard, as well as reflected on the game at The AMEX.

“Ethan won't be ready for the start of the season, or the first part of the season, how long exactly is difficult to say unfortunately. Christian Nørgaard's plan is to play against Real Betis on Saturday.

“Christian had a minor knee injury that was bothering him for quite a while, it was tricky because he couldn’t strike a ball without pain in his leg. He is progressing really well and is on track to start this weekend.”

Thomas also spoke about how some of the new lads in the dressing room are settling into their new home.

“I think the new guys are settling in well. Ben Mee played in the Premier League, he's from England and it's easy for him to step in.

“Aaron Hickey has just spent two years in Italy, just 20 years old and is settling in well but there's a bit more to adapt to. Keane is very much the same, they still need to settle a bit longer but they are in a good place with the group.”

Ivan Toney scored his first goal of pre-season as The Bees overcame Brighton, latching onto an assist from Halil Dervisoglu. Thomas was pleased with what he saw from his side.

“I think there were a lot of positives in the performance. Friendly or not, when you cross the white line, you want to perform and give a good display. It's a positive to win, it's a positive to keep a clean sheet. They had a few chances, but part of good defending is also putting bodies on the line sometimes and that was a positive for us today.

“In general, we're playing against a Brighton team that we know is one of the best in the Premier League on the ball. They really know what they do and are good at it. I think our mindset was really good and the structure was really good.

“In the first half, they had one or two good chances but both saw good saves from David [Raya]. In the second half we completely controlled things when we changed it to a 5-3-2 in terms of the low block. I really liked that and overall it was positive.”
