Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said the visit of AFC Bournemouth to Griffin Park would be a “massive game”.

The south coast side come to TW8 tomorrow for a New Year’s Day clash that will kick off at 3pm.

Brentford sit fourth in npower League One, just two points off the top of the table, while Bournemouth are a place lower, albeit four points worse off.

The Bees have not lost in 11 League One games while Bournemouth have gone 15 without a loss in all competitions, 13 league matches, a run that coincided with the return of Eddie Howe as their manager.

“On Tuesday, the two teams in form will play against each other,” said Uwe, speaking after Brentford’s 0-0 draw with Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

“It will be a massive game for us, and for them.

“We can make sure when we win the game it will be very difficult for Bournemouth to catch us.

“We have put ourselves in to a competitive position and we are looking forward to the Bournemouth game.

“It will be the two in-form teams of the league at the moment.

“We want to measure ourselves against the team with the best resources in the league.

“It will be a big challenge and I think the players will look forward to it.”

The teams drew 2-2 in the first game on the south coast in September.

Brentford took an early lead but Bournemouth had the better of the first half and went in 2-1 ahead at the break.

Harry Forrester equalised for The Bees to give them a point.

“We know how good they are,” said Uwe.

“We will not underestimate them.

“We know what they did to us for 45 minutes in the first game but we know what we did to them for the second 45.

“The players will be up for it.”

Uwe urged Brentford fans to turn out and watch one of the top games in League One this season.

“Everybody knows how good Bournemouth are,” he said.

“They are an in-form team.

“This will be a top, top game in the league.

“You can’t get more attractive than that.”
