Dean Smith’s side put defeat to Play-Off contenders Reading behind them by taking the three points away at another of the division’s pace-setters Sheffield Wednesday a week later. It was the defensive duo of John Egan and Harlee Dean who did the damage, scoring a pair of headers in the first-half. Fernando Forestieri curled one in from 20 yards in second-half stoppage time to give the hosts hope of snatching a point but The Bees held firm for a 2-1 win.
Then four days later, two stoppage-time goals earned Brentford three points and Jota the match ball as Rotherham United were beaten at Griffin Park. The relegation-threatened Yorkshire outfit looked as if they might take a point when they made it 2-2 inside the final three minutes. But Jota, who had scored the first goal of another entertaining afternoon at Griffin Park, smashed home a penalty to put Brentford in front for the third occasion deep in to four minutes of stoppage time. And he then grabbed his third of the day with the last kick to ensure The Bees took the points.
The B Team’s only fixture of late February saw goals from Reece Cole and Raphael Assibey-Mensah ensure Brentford B took the win against Stevenage in their latest friendly match. That news was followed shortly as Nathan Fox left Brentford after a mutual agreement was reached for the termination of his contract. The 20-year-old Brentford B defender had four months left to run on his contract and had been with the Club for just over a year.
Brentford Women’s troubles in 2017 continued as they took just one point from two games to all-but end their promotion hopes. Nadia Peters' double wasn't enough as Brentford Women's conceded twice in the final 20 minutes as Kingstonian came from behind to win 3-2 before Jenn Amols Brett’s unstoppable injury-time free-kick secured a point for Brentford Women’s FC as they drew 1-1 with Bromley LFC a week later.
