On The Eve of the trip to Burnley it was announced that last season’s top scorer Andre Gray would be moving to The Clarets after scoring 20 goals in 52 Brentford appearances. With Andre watching on from the stands it was his new club who took the points after a 1-0 win at Turf Moor, the only goal arriving midway through the first-half as Michael Keane headed home from a corner to inflict on The Bees their first league defeat of the campaign. The month ended with first-half goals from Orlando Sa and Nick Blackman sending Reading on their way to a 3-1 win at Griffin Park. Lasse Vibe pulled one back early on in the second half with a fine curling effort but Blackman secured the points with an injury time penalty as Brentford went into the international break in 18th place.

Late August saw the Under-18s and Under-21s both record comprehensive wins over local rivals Queens Park Rangers.
