Striker Scott Hogan was removed on a stretcher during the later stages of Brentford's Sky Bet Championship win over Rotherham United on Saturday, August 30.

Following a series of diagnostic test and a consultation with Mr Andrew Williams in London yesterday, Wednesday September 3, it has been agreed that Scott Hogan will undergo surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, that was injured during the win at Rotherham.

Brentford FC Head of Medical Neil Greig said: "Scott met with Mr Williams and a plan has been agreed for Scott to undergo reconstructive surgery on Wednesday of next week.

"The knee requires a short period of time prior to surgery to calm down following the initial trauma and it is prudent to wait, rather than rush in too early.

"The prognosis for such surgery is good, with every likelihood that Scott will return to his pre-injury levels and more with the correct management and conditioning.

"Timescales for Scott's return are loose at this stage, in that every knee and every injury are different, however on average the recovery from this type of injury is around nine months.

"In Mr Williams we have the most prominent and respected sporting knee consultant in the country.

"Additionally, we have a young and talented player who has already demonstrated a positive attitude and determination return better than ever.

"My excellent staff and I will also give Scott every support over the coming weeks and months and with those key ingredients in place I am confident that Scott's return will prove a success for both the player and Brentford Football Club."

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, added: "Whilst the loss of Scott is of course a blow to the team, the most important aspect is his long term health and recovery.

"Scott will be carefully looked after by our outstanding medical team who will oversee his full rehabilitation and we eagerly await his return to action and the impact he will undoubtedly make with our First Team."
