Brentford striker Scott Hogan underwent a review assessment by Consultant Knee Surgeon Andy Williams yesterday, as he reached the 12 week point in his recovery from a significant knee injury sustained in August.

The forward was removed on a stretcher during the later stages of Brentford's Sky Bet Championship win over Rotherham United on August 30 and underwent surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in September.

Brentford FC Head of Medical Neil Greig said: "Mr Williams was delighted with the progress that Scott has made and believes that the knee is very much on track with his expectations at this point.

"The condition of the knee is testament to the hard work that Scott has undertaken in the past 12 weeks and the attention that he has received from the Brentford medical and conditioning staff, under Mr Williams' guidance.

"As has been the plan from day one, Scott will now enjoy a short break before returning next week to begin the next phase of his reconditioning programme.

"This phase will include a two week reconditioning camp in Philadelphia in January with the renowned knee specialist Bill Knowles.

"Following this we hope that Scott will be in a position to begin working outside as a part of his next progression.

"No dates are presently being set for Scott's return, as we are working towards key, objective strength and performance criteria, rather than allowing timescales to govern progress.

"This way we can be confident that Scott has achieved the necessary key aims in order to progress back to full function."

Brentford Manager Mark Warburton added: "Such an injury presents significant challenges to both the player and the medical team.

"The fact that Scott is making such excellent progress is indeed testament to the work ethic and commitment of both parties.

"Scott has worked tirelessly through the initial post-op period and has been superbly supported by Neil, Daryl Martin and the full medical team.

"Much work still lies ahead but it is most pleasing to see how far Scott has come in such a short period of time and we very much look forward to seeing his continued return back to full fitness."
