Midfielder Ryan Woods is hoping to make his debut for Brentford at Elland Road after signing from Shrewsbury Town on transfer deadline day. He has arrived alongside Marco Djuricin and Sergi Canos as Brentford look to bounce back from their defeat against Reading at the end of last month.
“I’ve always made it my main issue to play football no matter where I go,” said Ryan. “I wouldn’t have come here unless I didn’t think I could play football every week, so that’s my main aim. I feel like I’m settling in really well, I’m just looking forward to it and want to get my boots on.”
The 21-year-old has settled in after the international break and gave his assessment of his new team mates after a full week’s training.
“It’s a very talented group,” said Ryan. “We’ve got a lot to improve on and I think that will happen in a very short space of time. I’m just looking to add to that group now and I can’t wait to get going.
Shrewsbury Town fans nick-named Woods the ‘ginger Pirlo’ for his midfield performances that likened him to the Italian International midfielder.
“I want to get on the ball as much as I possibly can,” said Ryan. “I think that’s my game; I come alive when the ball’s at my feet. I’d like to add some more goals to my game.
“To play in the Championship is exciting in itself. I’m just looking forward to a step up in quality and grounds.”
