Ryan Williams has left Brentford after a mutual agreement was reached for the termination of his contract. The midfield player joined The Bees on a one-year contract last summer. The 24-year-old played one game for the Club, in a Capital One Cup tie against Oxford United. He was also an unused substitute in the Sky Bet Championship win over Preston North End early in the campaign. He is now free to find another club.

The Birkenhead-born attacking midfield man came through the youth ranks at Chester City and was in the match day squad in the Football League for the Welsh border side when he was just 17. After Chester’s relegation and liquidation, Ryan played for Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Welsh Premier League outfit Rhyl. He joined Morecambe in 2012 and scored six goals in 61 games for the Lancashire side before joining Brentford last summer. Ryan was given permission to train with other clubs in order to secure his future and has now agreed to end his association with Brentford.

Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, said: "When we brought Ryan to the Club last summer we had an opportunity to sign a player with talent that could be worked on and developed. It was a low risk signing with a potentially large upside for everyone.

“Whilst it hasn't worked out on the pitch, Ryan has been a positive influence around the Training Ground. He has demonstrated his professionalism to some of the younger players. We felt that it was better that Ryan took the opportunity to play regular football elsewhere rather than continue to train at Brentford. We wish him well for his future career."
