Brentford Football Club can confirm two new additions to the Board of Directors. Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles – who have been in place as the Club’s Co-Directors of Football since May 2015 – have been appointed to the main Club Board.
As Co-Directors of Football, they oversee the football side of the Club. Rasmus is also Chairman of FC Midtjylland, the Danish Superliga side, and has written books about talent and performance development. Phil has worked at Smartodds for nine years, for much of that time in the role of Head of Quantitative Sports Research.
Club Chairman Cliff Crown said: “I’d like to welcome both Rasmus and Phil to the Board. We believe these appointments will bring a broader range of experience and talent to the Board and, at the same time, recognises the great work they have done in the last year in re-shaping the football side of the business.”
Simultaneously, Phil Whall has stepped down from the Board after more than seven years’ service. Phil joined as Matthew Benham’s representative in 2009, bringing with him the benefits of his legal training and experience.
Cliff added: “Phil has been an enthusiastic participant throughout his time as a Board member, and we will miss his ability to cut through complicated issues and get to the heart of a problem. Phil has kindly agreed to remain an Associate Director of the Club. On behalf of the Board, I’d like to thank him for his support and advice and to wish Phil all the best for the future.”
