After the success of the bucket collections for Stan Bowles when the two sides met at Griffin Park last month, supporters from both Brentford and QPR will be coming together next Tuesday, 9 March, for a charity quiz night in aid of their former player. The Hive at Griffin Park will be the setting and it will be open from 6.30pm with the quiz starting at 7.30pm.

Six teams each from both QPR and Brentford have been confirmed with supporters from both clubs putting their football knowledge to the test to raise money for Stan and his family. More than £2,100 was raised through bucket collections at the West London derby which The Bees won 3-1 last month.

Stan represented both The Bees and Rangers in an illustrious 17-year football career which saw him win five England caps. He spent nearly a decade at Loftus Road during the 1970s before ending his career with The Bees, winning the club’s Player of the Year award in 1982.

The mercurial midfielder was diagnosed with a form of Alzheimer’s in the summer of 2015 and now requires round the clock care. Last season saw Queens Park Rangers hold ‘Stan Bowles Day’ in honour of the midfielder while a proportion of the programme receipts from this fixture last season were donated to Stan and the Alzheimer’s Society.
