Brentford B travel to Aston Villa Under-21s on Wednesday evening in their second group fixture of the Premier League Cup. Kick-off is 7pm at their Bodymoor Heath Training Ground.

Neil MacFarlane’s side go into the match top of Group D having won their opening fixture 3-2 away from home against Blackburn Rovers in September. They are currently on a brilliant run of form having not tasted defeat in seven matches.

Last time out

The B Team have recently had a short stay in the north having travelled to Crewe Alexandra before pushing on to Scotland to face a Hearts XI. Both matches saw the side pick up 5-1 wins as they impressed going forwards. Both Alex Gilbert and Ryan Trevitt have been in fine form as they both netted in the games, whilst central defender Tristan Crama goes into the game after netting two times against the Scottish side. He was also named on the bench for the First Team in the Premier League for the first time on Sunday against Aston Villa.

A positive start in the Premier League Cup

Take a look at the main moments as the B Team beat Blackburn Rovers back in September as the side opened up their campaign with a win over the Lancashire side.

With the Bees top of the group, it's Blackburn who are behind in second with three points but they have played two matches as they followed up their defeat to Brentford with a win over Peterborough United. Wednesday's opponents are third in the table with Peterborough bottom of the group.

The opponents

Wednesday’s opponents have also played one fixture in the group as they drew with Peterborough. Villa were in action last on Friday night as they hosted Nottingham Forest in Premier League 2 where they claimed a 1-1 draw. Tommi O’Reilly grabbed a goal to put Villa ahead on 72 minutes before Forest earned a share of the points when Lewis Salmon found the net late on to equalise. Previous results have seen the side beaten by Crawley Town in the Papa Johns Trophy whilst they were also beaten narrowly by Newcastle United and Southampton.
