The last day of the Summer Transfer Window turned out to be a quiet one for Brentford. The Bees had brought in five players earlier in the window and the only player movement on Tuesday, 31 August, involved Brentford B midfield players Jaakko Oksanen and Alex Gilbert leaving on loan. You can see a full round-up here.

As the window closed, Phil Giles, Brentford FC Co-Director of Football, spoke about deadline day and the summer player trading as a whole. He outlined a lot of work had been done on Tuesday for little end result. See that interview here.

Phil also spoke to journalist Mark Douglas about the window. In a piece published on Football.London, Phil talked about the window just closed, as well as outlining some of what happens behind the scenes. He also spoke about previous years.

"It's not possible to do a deal solely on deadline day," said Phil, in one of the amusing anecdotes in the interview. "All the deals you see will have been lined up quite a long way in advance and you're waiting for things to fall into place.

"Our Head of recruitment Lee Dykes loves a late deal, though. The latest he's ever come to me was when the deadline was at 5pm and he came to me at 4.30 and said: 'I've got an idea'. I said this better be a good idea! We've got half an hour. That one didn't happen."
