This is Peter Bankes fifth season as an EFL referee, having taken charge of his first game in February 2014.

The Merseyside referee has officiated four Brentford games previously, showing 19 yellow cards and three reds in those three matches. His first Bees game was our 3-0 win at Nottingham Forest in 2016 before overseeing a 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday and our 5-1 win over Eastleigh last campaign. This season he took charge of our visit from Bristol City which ended in a 2-2 draw.

So far this season, Bankes has taken charge of 28 matches, showing 95 yellow cards and 6 reds.
