Brentford B defender Daniel Oyegoke helped England Under-19 to another win last night. Daniel played 90 minutes as England beat Israel in their latest 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championships Finals contest. Liam Delap, of Manchester City scored the only goal of the game in the sixth minute.
Daniel almost set up a second goal for England but Alfie Devine, of Tottenham Hotspur, volleyed over. That proved not top matter as England did enough to complete their Group B campaign with three wins from three. It was Daniel's first start of the tournament. He has come on as substitute in England's other two wins.
Brentford's other representative in the Under-19 squad is goalkeeper Matthew Cox. He played in wins over Austria and Serbia earlier in the week. Matthew stayed on the bench last night as England won again. They will be in Semi-Final action in the coming days.
Daniel and Matthew have been part of the England Under-19 squad throughout the run to the tournament. Goalkeeper Matthew played in five of the six qualifying matches while defender Daniel appeared in all six, three of them as a substitute. Both have been in the England youth set-up in recent years with Daniel now having 20 games for his country at Under-16, Under-18 and Under-19 level under his belt. Matthew has also played for England Under-20 and has made 11 appearances at youth international level.
