The Brentford FC Open Trials held in December last year found two players who were invited into the Academy’s Youth Team.

The trials were conducted on December 13 and 14 and there were over 200 participants who had an opportunity to win a professional contract with Brentford FC.

From these trials over the two days a 15 man squad was selected to take on the Brentford Elite Development Squad.

This match took place in February and Brentford’s Elite Development Squad came out victors with a goal in the final period.

However from this match two individuals stood out and were offered the opportunity to impress at training with Brentford’s Youth Team who are currently sitting at the top of the table of the Under-18 Professional Development League Two South.

The was Nicko Williams who is a neat midfielder with a great range of passing who rarely gave the ball away.

The second was Mathias Bringaker who impressed the scouts and coaches in the matches as a clever forward, with his movement off the ball and his finishing.

Mathias travelled all the way from Norway for the trials and showed a great amount of ability.

Both players came into the Youth Team training group and acquitted themselves very well both on and off the pitch.

But due to the quality of the current Under-18 players, particularly those in their respective positions, neither could be considered for a contract or further assessment.

Brentford Football Club would like to congratulate both players for their achievement in reaching the stage that they both did and wish them all the best in their future footballing endeavours.

The Open Trials in May are now full but more trials will be held next season.
