Birthdays

Wendell Morgan (1935); 49 appearances, 6 goals

Morgan signed for the newly-relegated Third Division South Bees in June 1954, after writing a letter to manager Bill Dodgin to request a trial. He spent the 1954–55 season in the reserve team and finally made the first senior appearance of his career in a 3–0 victory over Crystal Palace on 15 October 1955. He made 16 further appearances during the 55/56 season and scored five goals. After making five appearances at the beginning of the 57/58 season, Morgan departed. Having arrived from Cardiff City, where he didn’t play a game, Morgan took in spells at both Newport County and Swansea City later in his career making him one of the few players to have been contracted to all three South Wales EFL clubs.

Darren Pratley (1985); 54 appearances, 5 goals

Twice signed on loan from Fulham by Martin Allen, midfielder Pratley played a key role in our run to the Play-Offs during the 2004/05 and 2005/06 season. He featured 16 times, including both legs of the Play-Off semi-final against Sheffield Wednesday, in 04/05 before returning in August the following season. That campaign saw him make 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals, as we again lost out at the Play-Off semi-final stage, this time to Pratley's future employers Swansea City.
