Brentford vs Norwich City
Tuesday 19 September 2017
Griffin Park, 7.45pm
Carabao Cup Third Round
The Opposition
After a big overhaul in the summer which included a new coaching team, eight summer arrivals, and nine departures, it's been a mixed start for The Canaries. Daniel Farke's side have won three, drawn two, and lost three in the league while progress in the EFL Cup has come at the expense of Swindon Town and Charlton Athletic.
The goals of Nelson Oliveira have been key for Norwich this season with the Portuguese striker scoring four of City's seven league goals but he will miss out tonight with a groin injury. Defender Grant Hanley is cup-tied while Russell Martin and Steven Naismith have also been ruled out.
The Manager
Daniel Farke took over at Carrow Road in the summer after two years as Head Coach of Borussia Dortmund II. Farke's playing career was dominated by three spells with SV Lippstadt 08, the club with whom he started his managerial career in 2009.
The 40-year-old spent six years with SV, earning back-to-back promotions from the Westfalenliga to the Regionalliga West, the fourth tier of German football. In 2015, Farke took over from Huddersfield-bound David Wagner at Borussia II, a position he held until May this year when he headed to East Anglia.
