To mark ten years of the Football League Awards, The Football League and Football Manager have teamed up to find a ‘Team of the Decade’ based on players that have starred for Football League clubs in that period.
As part of the selection process we can nominate up to four players to go forward to the judges – one goalkeeper, one defender, one midfielder and one forward.
The judges will base their selection of the final XI on performances by players in Football League matches.
We recently ran a poll to find the best Brentford goalkeeper of the last ten years with Wojciech Szczesny coming out on top, narrowly beating current number one David Button.
Michael Turner was voted Defender of the Decade securing 30 per cent of the votes cast ahead of Sam Sodje and Jake Bidwell.
Jonathan Douglas had a week to remember as he signed a new contract on Friday, scored the opening goal against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday and was then named Midfielder of the Decade on Sunday, beating Kevin O'Connor by 0.9%.
So far nearly 1800 votes have been cast over the three awards but now the focus shifts to picking your Striker of the Decade and we have drawn up the following shortlist:
