After making his mark in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, Brentford goalkeeper Nik Tzanev is now targeting the Olympic Games.
Nik, 18, was part of the New Zealand squad for the tournament, which was won by Serbia.
He played in their final two games, performing excellently in a Second Round defeat to Portugal.
The Brentford goalkeeper has now been called in to New Zealand’s Under-23 squad for the upcoming Pacific Games tournament.
The competition will also double as qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro and start next August.
New Zealand will play Solomon Islands, hosts Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia in the group phase early next month before the top two teams in each group move on the semi-finals.
The winner of the tournament overall will qualify for the Olympic Games.
New Zealand have qualified for the last two Olympic Games football tournaments but have yet to win a game.
Nik – Brentford’s Youth Team Player of the Year for 2014/15 – has three international caps to his name at Under-20 level.
The 18-year-old was offered his first professional contract earlier this year.
