Brentford goalkeeper Nik Tzanev will be hoping to feature as New Zealand start their FIFA Under-20 World Cup campaign overnight.

The 18-year-old was named in the New Zealand squad for the tournament as one of two goalkeepers and has been given the number 12 shirt.

New Zealand, who are hosting the event, kick-off the tournament at 1pm local time (2am BST) tomorrow, Saturday May 30, against Ukraine.

They have further group games against USA and Myanmar on Tuesday, June 2, and Friday, June 5.

Nik was born in Wellington and moved to England in 2006.

He has been first-choice goalkeeper for Brentford’s Youth Team this season, playing 19 games as The Bees reached the final of the Under-18 Professional Development League.

Nik has also played two games for the Development Squad this term.

He was named Youth Team Player of the Year and has been offered a professional contract for 2015/16.
