One of the most intense months and the oddest of years will come to an end in the coming days and Brentford will end 2020 with a home game against AFC Bournemouth. The Bees beat Cardiff City yesterday, Boxing Day, to hold on to a position in the top four of the Sky Bet Championship. And on Wednesday, 30 December, they will face one of the three teams above them.

The Bees have won their last two home games and three of the last five to sit fourth in the table with 38 points from their first 21 games. They face a Bournemouth side that sit third in the standings and are above The Bees on goal difference. Bournemouth have, however, not played since 19 December and have a game in hand on Brentford.

In the past five days, Brentford have beaten Newcastle United to reach the last four of the Carabao Cup and then defeated Newcastle. Bournemouth were due to face Millwall yesterday but the game was called off due to a Covid-19 outbreak at their opponents. That game will now be played in January when Brentford have a rare midweek off.

That would have been a disappointment for Bournemouth as they are on a very good run of form. The Cherries are unbeaten in five games without conceding a goal and have won three of them to sit just outside the automatic promotion places ahead of the final game of the year. They will be looking to bounce back in to the Premier League after being relegated last year. They had spent five years in the top tier after winning promotion in 2015.

Bournemouth have lost just twice all season and have won ten of their 20 fixtures. Only one of those defeats have come away from home and they have conceded just eight goals on their travels, albeit they have won only three of ten on the road. They will be looking to stay above The Bees after Wednesday night's match.

The match kicks-off at 5.30pm on Wednesday and will, unfortunately, be behind closed doors. It will, however, be available live on Sky Sports. As per Club communication, those that froze their Season Tickets will be able to watch on iFollow Brentford. See more here.

Fans who do not have Sky Sports can access the game online via Now TV. Fans can pay for one-day access, which would also give them the ability to watch that day's other live sport. Alternatively there are longer passes available. See more here.
