Brentford midfield player Toumani Diagouraga has signed a new two-year contract extension.

The 25-year-old central midfield player completed a permanent move to Griffin Park in the summer of 2010 after a successful loan spell.

He is approaching the end of his third full season at Griffin Park and this afternoon has signed to extend that stay further.

Toumani is now under contract with The Bees until June 2015.

Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said: “We are delighted we have been able to convince Toumani to stay with us.

“He is an important part of our team.

“Toumani has been very important since I came to Brentford, he has been a very stable performer.

“He is not afraid of the competition we have for places here in midfield and he is thriving on it.

“He feels it makes him a better player.

“The style of football we play suits him and his style.

“I’m delighted to work with him for another two years, he has so much to offer.

“We do not believe he is at the end of his development, there is more to come from him.

“As a Club, we are delighted we could get him to stay.”

Toumani was born in Paris to Malian parents but signed for Watford’s Academy and then turned professional with The Hornets.

He made only six appearances for Watford before moving to Hereford United in the summer of 2008 after helping The Bulls to promotion the previous season during a year-long loan spell.

Peterborough United signed him in 2009 for an undisclosed fee but he was allowed to join Brentford on loan for the second half of the 2009/10 campaign.

He made that move permanent for an undisclosed fee and soon established himself in the centre of The Bees’ midfield.

The long legged midfield player has now played 136 games for The Bees in all competitions and has scored six goals.

Toumani spoke to Bees Player after signing the new deal – an interview with the midfield player will be available tomorrow.
