Brentford goalkeeper Jack Bonham has signed a new long-term contract.

The 21-year-old joined The Bees in the summer of 2013 after being released by Watford.

His contract was set to expire at the end of the current season but he has now signed a new deal to keep him at Griffin Park until the summer of 2018.

Jack has established himself as second-choice goalkeeper at Brentford this season, behind David Button, and has featured in every match day squad since the end of August.

He will now be looking to add to the three Brentford appearances he made in 2013/14.

Mark Warburton, Brentford FC Manager, said: “We are delighted with the progress Jack has made in recent months.

“He has worked tirelessly in training with Goalkeeper Coach Simon Royce and the group of goalkeepers.

“He has continued his development and will benefit from more First Team experience.

“Jack is still a young player, only 20, and this is a long term commitment from us to a player that we see as having outstanding potential.”

Jack made his professional debut on the last day of the 2012/13 Championship season for Watford as a substitute.

He had started the day as third in line but injuries to the two main goalkeepers thrust him in to the role.

Jack left Watford a few days later and joined The Bees having been on trial earlier in the year.

The goalkeeper, who has represented the Republic of Ireland at Under-17 level, has played eight games for Brentford’s Development Squad in the Under-21 Professional Development League.
