Brentford Football Club were delighted to welcome the media to the site of our new stadium last month. On Monday 19 March, a ground-breaking ceremony was held to mark the preparations for the start of construction on the new Brentford Community Stadium and enabling residential development. The development will deliver a 17,250-capacity stadium, 910 much-needed new homes, a new base for Brentford FC Community Sports Trust and other commercial elements to help regenerate the local area. It is due to be completed during the 2019/20 season.

The BBC were at the event and produced a series of pieces for their viewers, readers and listeners. Their main news story can be seen here and a package of interviews can be heard here at around 1:24:30. That programme also includes reflections on Chris Mepham's international debut at around 1:10:00.
