Brentford conceded two late goals as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Milton Keynes Dons.

The Bees dominated most of the match and appeared to have it won when they were 2-0 up going in to the final 11 minutes thanks to goals from James Tarkowski and Clayton Donaldson.

But MK pulled one back through a disputed penalty and then equalised in the dying seconds to take a slightly fortunate share of the spoils.

Despite having promotion already in the bag, Brentford played like a team that wanted to end the 2013/14 season in style.

From the first whistle they took control of the game, playing on the front foot and taking the territorial advantage.

The first 30 minutes offered little of note in terms of chances but Brentford would have felt they had the upper hand.

An early Adam Forshaw shot was saved by David Martin and Will Grigg was just unable to turn in a Donaldson cross soon after.

At the other end, Jonathan Douglas blocked an effort from Giorgio Rasulo and Daniel Powell turned an Izale McLeod cross wide at the near post.

The game opened up a little after the first 30 minutes and Brentford had some decent chances to take the lead.

Martin just beat Grigg to a Stuart Dallas through ball and the MK keeper then got down well to turn away a Jake Bidwell shot.

Martin saved a low Grigg shot after he capitalised on a poor Stephen Gleeson pass and then got down well to keep out a Dallas shot from a short corner, Donaldson followed up to tap home the rebound but was in an offside position from the initial shot so the goal did not count.

Donaldson then fired well over at the far post when he got on to a Dallas cross while, at the other end, Alan Smith missed the target with a volley and Button saved a low McLeod effort.

Brentford took the lead in the dying seconds of the first half with a goal that MK will be very disappointed with.

Alan Judge delivered a corner from the left that Martin got two hands on and then dropped, it fell on to the right foot of Tarkowski and he smashed home.

The second half started in the same way as the first, MK offering a little resistance but no real threat in attack.

Ryan Hall fired a free kick well wide for the hosts but they were soon forced on the defensive as Brentford went looking for more goals.

Judge had a shot blocked and then curled a free kick over the bar before Donaldson headed a Bidwell cross wide.

Brentford got their second goal just before the hour mark when Forshaw went on a mazy run through midfield and fed a pass through, Donaldson raced on to it and slotted home with his left foot.

It looked as if it would then be a matter of how many Brentford would score.

Judge had a shot blocked before Donaldson and Forshaw combined to release Dallas, he skipped away from Dean Lewington but fired in to the side netting.

A powerful Forshaw shot was saved by Martin after good work by George Saville but MK got a lifeline with just over ten minutes to play.

A free kick was half cleared and Gleeson fired in a shot that broke to McLeod, he tried to round Button and referee Tim Robinson adjudged a foul had been committed even though it looked as if the Brentford man had got the ball.

Gleeson took the penalty himself and fired it low to Button’s right, just eluding the dive of the goalkeeper and nestling in the bottom corner.

Mark Randall fired over and Tony Craig blocked a shot from Matty Kennedy as MK looked for an equaliser.

Button saved from Randall and Jordan Spence headed wide before McLeod had a shot blocked.

Just when it appeared time was up Hall delivered a cross from the left and McLeod rose highest to nod home the leveller.

It does not affect Brentford’s season, with promotion already assured, but it was harsh on a team that dominated almost exclusively.
