Brentford youngster Alfie Mawson, currently on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, has received special recognition from the Football League.

Alfie has been with Sky Bet League Two Wycombe for the whole of the 2014/15 season so far.

He has played 18 League Two matches as Wycombe have climbed to the top of the table.

The latest was a 3-1 win away to Hartlepool United and Alfie scored the third goal.

It was enough to earn him a place in the Football League Team of the Week.

The team, published on the Football League website, is drawn from the performances over the previous seven days in all three Sky Bet Football League divisions.

Alfie was the only player with Brentford links selected despite The Bees beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 at Griffin Park on Saturday with Alan Judge scoring one and setting up two more.

It is only the fourth time this season Brentford have had players in the Football League Team of the Week.

Jake Bidwell was selected after setting up two goals as The Bees beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-2 in September and Jonathan Douglas was named after scoring twice in a week, against Watford and Leeds United, just at the start of October.

After The Bees beat Nottingham Forest and Millwall away in the space of three days at the start of November Andre Gray, who scored three goals in the two wins was selected, and Mark Warburton was named as best boss that week.
