Brentford B advanced to Round Three of the Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup with a 4-0 win over CB Hounslow United on Tuesday night. The Dragons couldn't stop Joe Hardy netting a brace, with Luka Racic and David Titov also adding to the scoresheet.

In the opening exchanges, The Bees were calling for a red card when Hounslow's Luke Bersey seemed to throw a punch at his opponent. However, the referee only saw fit to award a yellow.

Hardy was in after only 12 minutes to create the first real chance of the game, shooting low towards the bottom left corner. Goalkeeper Rhys Forster got down to his left and parried the ball away.

Shortly after that, Hounslow got themselves into a good position. Striker Jason Nwachukwu found space on the edge of the box to shooot but his effort sailed well over the crossbar.

After 24 minutes, Jan Zamburek had a similar chance for Brentford B and could only repeat the accuracy of his Hounslow counterpart. Ali Coote had done well to find him in space but the effort was blazed well over.

Reece Cole came closest after 33 minutes, cutting inside and hitting an effort towards goal. The power and dip on the ball had Forster rooted to the spot completely, all he could do was watch on as the ball cannoned back off his crossbar.

Then Dragons captain Jack Watts tested Simon Andersson for the first time. The Swedish youth international was quick to dive to his left and hold on to a shot from distance.

Then Brentford found their opening. Nikolaj Kirk drove forward down the left flank, all the way to the byline, before squaring a ball into the box. There was Hardy arriving in time to sweep the ball home and open the scoring.

A few minutes later, Cole hit the bar again. A similar effort to his first, he managed to work some space outside the penalty area and then let fly with his right foot. The ball dipped again but only clipped the top of the woodwork on its way out of play.

Hardy might have had his second just before the break, Coote's cross finding him inside the opposition box. Under pressure from Dennis Gorman he managed to get a shot away, which was matched by the dive and parry of goalkeeper Forster.

At half-time, there was a change of referee after Andrew Williams suffered a calf problem and was unable to continue. Assistant Referee Robert-Gabriel Nutu took the whistle for the second 45 minutes.

Seven minutes into the second period, Hardy netted his second. Coote once again was the man providing the ball into the box, and there again was Hardy to slot home into the net.

A double substitution for Hounslow saw former Brentford B player Luke Dunn make an appearance from the home bench. The winger was part of the squad that won the Kai Thor Cup in January 2017, scoring against Hamburg SV in the group stages.

Andersson had to react quickly after 69 minutes, getting down low to his right to stop a fizzing shot from Triantafilos Skapetis. The wideman had cut inside and unleashed a quick shot that took the Brentford defence by surprise, but not the goalkeeper.

After 77 minutes, Brentford had a three-goal lead. Cole swung in a corner from the right-hand side, which was powered home by Racic in the middle of the box. He ran from deep before connecting with the ball perfectly to score his first ever goal for The Bees.

Kolbeinn Finnsson was brought off for Titov as soon as the third goal went in. The winger brought on to the field then scored the fourth a few minutes later.

A ball in from the left wing missed the first few defenders in green shirts, only for Titov to drill home a shot from close range into the bottom corner. The Latvia Under-19 international netted just his second goal for The Bees, a first of the season.

There was still time for substitute Jarvis Edobor to make a burst forward in stoppage time at the end of the game. He beat two players before running into the onrushing Forster. The goalkeeper cleared the ball away shortly before the final whistle sounded.
