The young Bees were in control throughout the game, but it took two penalties from Christian Tue Jensen and a Japhet Sery Larsen finish to confirm the win, as well as a 10-minute cameo from Sam Saunders.

The first half started slowly in terms of chances created with the first notable opportunity coming when the Ferreiras keeper handled outside his area before Tue Jensen’s free kick was well blocked.

On 20 minutes the ball was played through for Gustav Mogensen to time his run expertly before he pulled it back for Matej Majka whose shot was deflected over.

10 minutes later the home side would have their first notable chance when the ball was played through the Brentford backline centrally and Daniel Oliveira latched onto it before firing straight at the trialist keeper.

Moments later The Bees were awarded a penalty, the first of three on the night, as Nick Tsaroulla was brought down after he tricked his way into the box. Mogensen would step up but his powerful effort aimed towards the bottom right-hand corner was clawed away by the Ferreiras keeper.

Andre Sustelo would then head wide for the home side following a dangerous move down the right as the sides went into the break level.

The second period was less than 10 minutes old when the referee pointed to the spot for the second time when Mogensen looked to skip away from his man before being brought down from behind.

This time it was Tue Jensen’s turn to step up and he calmly converted to give Neil MacFarlane’s side a deserved lead.

Just after the hour mark, Tue Jensen would be fouled as he looked to dart inside and some carless defending gave him the opportunity to, once again, convert with a calm side footed attempt.

Five minutes later The Bees would get a goal from open play when Tue Jensen delivered a wicked free-kick in from the right which evaded everyone but Sery Larsen at the back post who chested and volleyed into the top corner of the goal.

As the coaching staff made lots of changes in the second period they acted to conserve energy up front as coach Sam Saunders entered the field for the final 10 minutes to help see out the victory.
