Brentford v Queens Park Rangers Friday 30 October 2015 Griffin Park Kick-off: 7.45pm
The season so far
Rangers make the short journey today with a record of two wins in their last nine games. Similar away matches in the capital city have not been kind this season, with ties at Charlton Athletic and Fulham both ending in defeats, 0-2 at The Valley and 0-4 at Craven Cottage.
They added six First Team players in the summer. These additions included Daniel Tozser permanently and Gabriele Angella on loan. Both won promotion from the Championship with Watford last year. They also signed Alex Smithies [Huddersfield Town], Tjaronn Chery [FC Groningen], James Perch [Wigan Athletic] and Grant Hall [Tottenham Hotspur].
Experienced defensive duo Richard Dunne and Rio Ferdinand were released from their contracts as they approached retirement in July. Older players Joey Barton [Burnley], Shaun Wright-Phillips [New York Red Bulls] and Bobby Zamora [Brighton and Hove Albion] also left the club.
Goalkeepers Alex McCarthy and Brian Murphy departed for Crystal Palace and Portsmouth respectively. Paul Konchesky signed for Leicester City on loan until the end of the season, while Steven Caulker left on a similar deal for Southampton.
The Gaffer
Chris Ramsey has been in charge of The Hoops for eight months, after replacing Harry Redknapp in February this year. Despite the change, the former Swindon Town defender couldn’t rescue Rangers from relegation from the Premier League.
Prior to arriving in West London, Ramsey held several roles within The Football Association at various levels of the England youth system. Following this he moved to America to manage Charleston Battery for four years, before he was named Head of Player Development at Tottenham Hotspur.
