Brentford travel to Stoke City for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 11 August, playing their first away game of the 2018/19 Sky Bet Championship.
Dean Smith's side got off to a great start last weekend, beating Rotherham United 5-1 at Griffin Park. Now they face a Stoke side relegated from the Premier League last season, who were beaten 3-1 by Leeds United on Sunday.
The Bees have only followed up an opening day win with another one twice in the past 15 years.
The Opposition
Stoke City will host The Bees in a league match for the first time since 10 November 2001, when the home side came away with a 3-2 victory despite goals from Ben Burgess and Lloyd Owusu.
In the last 20 years, Brentford have won their second game of the season 10 times. The last time they followed an opening day win with a victory in their second match was back in 2006, when Northampton Town were put to the sword after first winning against Blackpool.
Stoke's new recruits over the summer include Wales international Ashley Williams (on loan from Everton), Sam Clucas (from Swansea City on deadline day), James McClean (from West Brom) and Tom Ince (from Huddersfield Town). Heading out the door were Stephen Ireland and Glen Johnson (both released), as well as Lee Grant (to Manchester United) and Xherdan Shaqiri (to Liverpool).
Team News
Emiliano Marcondes will be missing for a few weeks, recovering from a knock he picked up against Watford in pre-season. Rico Henry is also still on the road to recovery, working hard to be back this season for The Bees. Chiedozie Ogbene is also missing from action, having missed some of training this week with a knock.
Julian Jeanvier is still waiting for a Brentford debut after appearing on the bench against Rotherham, while new recruit Moses Odubajo could be included in his first Bees squad since the 2015 Championship Play-Off Final.
For Stoke, Ibrahim Afellay is out with a knee injury that he sustained in pre-season. Benik Afobe, Badou Ndiaye and Erik Pieters all played a part in the opening game of the season after shaking off knocks of their own.
Deadline Day signing Sam Clucas, brought in from Swansea City, could be in line to make his debut for The Potters.
The Manager
Worcestershire-born Gary Rowett has been tasked with getting Stoke straight back up to the Premier League this season. A defender in his playing days, he moved around between clubs from 1991-2007.
Starting out at Cambridge United, a short spell at Everton soon turned into a loan with Blackpool. Derby County was the next stop, where he played over 100 games and then moved to Birmingham. Leicester City, Charlton Athletic and Burton were the final stops in a 16-year football career.
The 44-year-old started his coaching career at Burton Albion in 2012 before moving back to Birmingham City two years later. After a surprise sacking from The Blues, Rowett joined another former employer Derby County in 2017. A year later, after leading The Rams to a Play-Off Semi-Final, he left to join Stoke.
