Sheffield Wednesday vs Brentford

Tuesday 21 February Hillsborough Sky Bet Championship Kick-off: 7.45pm

The Opponents

Last year's beaten Play-Off finalists took a little while to get going this season, taking just five points from their opening five matches, but now look in a strong position to book their place in the end of season shootout for the second straight year. Since their stuttering start The Owls have lost just six league games and go into tonight's meeting seven points clear of seventh-placed Norwich City, with a game in hand. Carlos Carvalhal's men are unbeaten at Hillsborough since November, winning six of those seven matches.

The Owls looked to add goals to their squad in January with the arrival of Middlesborough's Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall from Barnsley alongside Morgan Fox [Charlton Athletic] and Callum McManaman [West Bromwich Albion]. Those new faces have helped Wednesday embark on a four match winning run, both Rhodes and Winnall were on target in the 3-0 win over Birmingham City earlier this month. Carvalhal will be without Fox and Tom Lees for tonight's game while Gary Hooper remains a doubt with a muscle injury.

The Gaffer

After almost three years away from the game, Carlos Carvalhal joined Wednesday in June 2015, and is now the fifth longest serving manager in the Championship. The 51-year-old spent the majority of his playing career as a defender with his hometown club SC Braga, making more than 100 appearances for the club. He also had spells with Porto, Beira-Mar and Tirense before retiring, aged 32.

This is Carvalhal's 15th club management job, following spells with Sporting Lisbon, CF Belenenses and SC Braga in his native Portugal. His last position was at Turkish giants Besiktas, where he acted as caretaker manager.
